High Security Disk Encryption

VeraCrypt is a free disk encryption software brought to you by IDRIX and that is based on TrueCrypt 7.1a.

VeraCrypt picks up from where TrueCrypt left and it adds enhanced security to the algorithms used for system and partitions encryption making it immune to new developments in brute-force attacks.
VeraCrypt also solves many vulnerabilities and security issues found in TrueCrypt. It can load TrueCrypt volume and it offers the possibility to convert TrueCrypt containers and non-system partitions to VeraCrypt format.

This enhanced security adds some delay only to the opening of encrypted partitions without any performance impact to the application use phase. This is acceptable to the legitimate owner but it makes it much more harder for an attacker to gain access to the encrypted data.

The latest VeraCrypt binaries and source code can be found at VeraCrypt home page located at https://www.veracrypt.fr. They are also available at Sourceforge.

VeraCrypt source code is also mirrored at Github and Bitbucket.

All VeraCrypt released files are PGP signed with a key available here.
This key is also available on major key servers using ID=0x680D16DE. Please check that its fingerprint is 5069A233D55A0EEB174A5FC3821ACD02680D16DE.
